Multiple Teams · Chaparral Hires a New Football Coach

April 20, 2016

Dear Chaparral Football Community,

I’m very pleased to announce that Thomas Lewis will join Chaparral High School as the new Head Football Coach.

As Head Football Coach, Coach Lewis’s responsibilities will include leading the Firebirds on and off the field. Coach Lewis is committed to instilling strong moral ethics in our student athletes and promoting positive decision making as we are leaders on our campus and in our community.

Coach Lewis comes to Chaparral with more than 11 years of football experience having been an All-American wide receiver at Indiana University. After college, Coach Lewis was drafted by the New York Giants in the 1st round with the 24th pick in 1994 the NFL draft and continued his career with the Chicago Bears.

Coming to Chaparral prior to the 2015 football season, Coach Lewis served as our wide receivers coach, then was promoted to Offensive Coordinator in December. Prior to coaching at Chaparral, he served as the QB coach at Oaks Christian Prep Academy in Westlake California. Under his tutelage, his quarterbacks were able to obtain scholarship offers from USC, UCLA and many more colleges.

Thomas Lewis is a great man of character who believes in teaching the game through hard work and leadership. He has demonstrated his dedication to Chaparral and the Scottsdale community. Coach Lewis will be putting together one of the best coaching staffs in the state within the next few weeks, a staff that will be ready to hit the ground running on the first day of Spring football practice.

We are very excited to have hired a coach with the expertise, excitement and character necessary to lead our young men on the gridiron for many years to come.

Please help us welcome the next winning coach of the Firebirds! You can reach Thomas Lewis at:
