The Chaparral Firebirds Swim and Dive team had their first away meet of the season vs. Mesa Mountain View. Both the Boys and Girls were victorious with the Boys Defeating Mountain View 96-87 and the Girls Defeating Mountain View 119-61. For both teams this was a meet that very well could turn into the toughest meet of the season. The girls team was dominant in winning 10 of 11 total events in the meet with double event winners of Freshman Ashley Strouse, Freshman Greer Pattison, and Freshman Riley Courtney. Throughout the entire meet there were numerous great swims and were great contributions from all, in individual events and relays. On the boys side it was an up and down meet, with lead changes constantly changing. There was double event winner on the boys side Sophomore Matthew Leblanc, who helped the boys win 7 of 11 events throughout the meet. There were some great swims all together from all that competed on relays and individual swims. For the girls they responded from a 2 point win last year against Mountain View with a demanding 119-61 win and on the boys side last year they lost by 21, but was on the upper hand with the 96-87 win. Overall, it was a great performance and the Firebirds Swim and Dive Teams are both 3-0. Way to go Firebirds! The Firebirds next meet is the Brophy Invitational Sept 22 (Dive Only) and Sept 23 (Swim Only).
